Policewoman conned Sh. 86k by man who promised her Central Bank job

A policewoman based in Kiambu has parted ways with Sh. 86,191 in a con game by a man who promised to get her a job at the central bank.

Under normal circumstances, citizens would fall victim to such cases and be the ones reporting to the police to record them in the Occurrence Book. This time a well-calculated scheme saw the policewoman jot her name and complaint in the OB 13/8/12/2022.

The policewoman identified as Seargent Evelyn Karimi Njeru said that she was approached by a man claiming to be the secretary to Assistant Inspector General of Police Jacinta Muthoni.

The man identified himself as Inspector Peter Mwove and said he was based at Vigilance House.

The ‘secretary’ told Seargent Njeru that he was in a position to get her a good job at the Central Bank of Kenya, from her present workstation. Little did she know that the job was fake.

“The owner impersonated to be the secretary to one Madam Jacinta Muthoni AIG based at Vigilance House and was in a position to deploy her at Central Bank of Kenya,” read the report.

Seargent Njeru seemingly desperate for the Central Bank Job sent money in three separate intervals, amounting to Sh. 86,191.

The DCI at Gatundu North is investigating the case. Sleuths are working towards arresting the impersonator and recovering the policewoman’s money.
