A professor Fred Ogola who complained that he was earning too little despite having 24 academic certificates has been fired by his employer.
Professor Ogola was fired barely months after publicly lamenting that his salary of Sh. 100,000 was too little for a man of his academic credentials.
Ogola is reported to have been a senior lecturer at Strathmore University. He claimed that he received his termination letter on April 6, 2023.
He said that the university did not give reasons for termination of his employment, and only quoted that he had joined another university in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
“I woke up one day and noticed that people were sending me congratulatory messages but I did not know why they were sending them,” Professor Ogola said.
“I then realised that someone had hacked my account and shared that I was starting a position as Dean of a university in DRC. I had to go back and delete that message because it was false.”
Professor Ogola had on Monday, March 6th, with his statements regarding his financial prowess despite being one of the most learned Kenyans.
“If I belonged to a different community, would I be a lecturer earning below Sh. 100,000 as a salary?” he had posed.
“I have one Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD), two Master’s Degrees, 5 Undergraduate Degrees and 16 other certifications.”

“And it is not only about the certificates, I have earned them from some of the best institutions in the world,” he had added.
