Detectives investigating the theft of some Sh. 94 million belonging to Quickmart Supermarket have recovered Sh. 9 million of the stolen cash.
The detectives working with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations have also arrested four men linked to the theft.
Among the arrested is Ismael Patrick Gitonga who the detectives suspect was the driver who ferried the two men working for security firm Wells Fargo who stolen the money.
“Ismael Patrick Gitonga is believed to be the driver and accomplice who ferried Wells Fargo crew Mugetha, Nduiki and the stolen Sh. 94, 918,750 from the company truck in South C using his Toyota Fielder Reg no. KBM 751W,” the DCI said in a statement.
The DCI said that the vehicle that was used to ferry the suspects was traced to Njiru area in Kayole.
It was in the hands of Michael Matoro Njeru and Samuel Onyango.
The fourth suspect was arrested near the Thika Road Mall in Roysambu. He has been identified as Martin Nderi Ng’ang’a. He led the detectives to his rented house still in Roysambu, where a search produced Sh. 9.1 million in cash.

“The sleuths proceeded to a forest near Gataka Market in Karen, where the cash box used in transporting the stolen money was recovered. Detectives believe that the forest was the meet up point for the suspects, where the loot was shared,” the DCI said.
