KNEC announces recruitment of KCSE assessors, how to apply

The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has announced the recruitment of assessors for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) oral and practical papers.

In a notice on Tuesday, April 30, the examination body said the recruitment exercise will commence on May 1 and conclude on July 30, 2024. Successful applicants will undergo training before taking up their roles.

“The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) wishes to recruit secondary school teachers/college tutors assessors for KCSE oral and practical papers between 1st May and 30th July 2024. The selected professionals will be trained on the job during the assessment of the 2024 KCSE papers,” the notice reads.

KNEC clarified that teachers who are already in its database of assessors don’t have to apply.

It added that successful applicants would be responsible for supervising power mechanics, electricity, aviation technology, French oral, German oral, Arabic oral, Kenya sign language signing practical, and music practical papers.

Requirements

For one to qualify, he or she must be a practising teacher /tutor in the relevant subjects. The candidate must also be registered and /or employed by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) or a recognized professional body.

In addition, candidates must have a diploma or above, in education or in the relevant area of specialization; for aviation technology, he or she must also have a diploma in aeronautical engineering.

Other requirements include a minimum teaching experience of three (3) years, be 50 years of age and below, must not be on interdiction or any other form of disciplinary action from the employer and must  be recommended by his/her head of institution or employer.

How to apply

Interested Kenyans have been requested to make applications on the examiners portal using the link https://examinersapp.knec.ac.ke.

“Those with CP2 accounts should log into the portal using their usernames and passwords, while those who would have forgotten their CP2 passwords should click on the “reset password” button and enter their mobile number in the format 254 and submit to get new passwords for logging into the system,” KNEC stated.

Upon successful login, the applicant should complete their personal profile and save. On the dashboard, click on apply for assessors’ vacancies and all the declared vacancies will be available for the applicants to choose from.
