Requirements to be a secondary school teacher and all approved subject combinations

Teaching is one of the most pursued courses in Kenya, and the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) estimates that the country has over 300,000 teachers.

According to the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) data, the course attracted the highest number of applicants among the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidates.

TSC says to become a teacher in Kenya one has to meet some academic qualifications depending on the job category.
