Riara University partners with ‘NIIT’ to offer future ready programs

Riara University marked a great milestone with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with NIIT, a leading skills and talents corporation, to offer future ready programs in digital marketing and big data analysis to the Kenyan market.

The two courses are set to commence in September 2019 and will run at the University Mbagathi Way Campus.

NIIT Limited (www.niit.com) was founded in 1981 in New Delhi, India, with the aim of bringing people and computers together successfully. Currently, the institution has a presence in 40 countries and has so far trained over 35 million learners globally.

Every year, 26,000 learners are certified from over 30 NIIT training centers in Africa. In Kenya, NIIT is in association with listed company Car and General, with the ambitions to bridge the IT skill gap in Kenyan market through NIIT future ready programs (www.niitkenya.com).

“NIIT future ready programs are in high demand in many parts of the world as they ensure that the certified learners have the competences required by employers” said Saumil Vyas, Center Head, NIIT Kenya.

The organization has an initiative called the “NIIT inside Campus Model”, which empowers youth by integrating different curricula running in various universities to help improve with new-age digital skills suitable for the current industry market. This method has been successful in India, China and in several African countries.

“Riara has already built a strong brand in Kenya and we are excited to be associated with this greatness. Tremendous strides are made by collaborating with such organizations that are keen on impacting positively on people’s lives,” echoed Vijay Gidoomal, the CEO of Car and General.

Riara University was born out of a sincere desire to provide a holistic approach in higher education. It is a logical continuation of a commitment, dating back to 1974, to ensure world class education and the development of a whole learner. The university’s concept of education goes beyond the classroom and reaches out to provide stimulation and motivation for self-development and capacity for long-life education.

“Today, the Riara brand celebrates 45 years of excellence and aims at growing stronger. We take pride in the fact that our main focus lies on strong service delivery to our students,” said Professor Robert Gateru, the University’s Vice Chancellor.

Professor Gateru expressed his gratitude for the partnership noting that the University is keen on ensuring the maintenance of a tradition of excellence, guided by the vision of the founders, Professor Eddah Gachukia and Daniel Gachukia
