The three men had fake Equity Bank staff identification cards.
They are alleged to have entered the bank at around 6am through the rear entrance and told the Equity Bank branch deputy manager that they had been authorised to carry out auditing.
They are said to have walked inside the Equity Bank branch pretending to do inspections.
“They took out the cash and even counted it,” said one source who did not want to be named adding that the amount stolen was Sh30 million.
Nyeri Police Commander Larry Kieng’ said they are investigating how the money was stolen and that no arrest has been made so far.
