The Odinga family has stamped its dominance in Nyanza politics with two of the family members clinching top posts in their counties.
Ruth Odinga, who is Raila Odinga’s sister has won the Kisumu Women Rep seat. On the other hand, Oburu Odinga who is Raila’s elder brother has won the Siaya Senate seat.

DAP-K candidate Oscar Omondi Onyango who was facing off with Oburu conceded defeat a day after the elections.
“We must accept this result and look toward the future. Dr Oburu Oginga is going to be our Senator. We owe him an open mind and the chance to lead,” Onyango said.
In Kisumu, Ruth garnered 304,419 votes against her closest competitor Valentine Anyango of the Movement for Democracy and Growth party (MDG) who got 80,117 votes. Rose Auma was third with 36,692 votes. She vied as an Independent candidate.
