Safaricom partners with Vipingo Ridge to boost network

Safaricom is partnering with residents’ associations to rollout fibre infrastructure across the country in a bid to enhance the coverage and quality of its network.

Through these partnerships, the firm intends to not only set up base stations and network sites, but also roll out fibre to homes. Today, Safaricom signed a strategic partnership with Vipingo Ridge in Kilifi that will see residents of the real estate development and surrounding communities enjoy enhanced services. This follows similar agreements the company has signed with other commercial and residential hubs across the country such as the Hub, Karen.

Speaking during the launch of the partnership, Safaricom’s Head of Department for Regional Sales & Operations in the Coast Region, Fawzia Ali-Kimanthi said that in addition to jointly setting up network sites in Vipingo Ridge, the partnership will also work towards delivering fiber to the homes.

“This is an opportunity to for our company to work together to deliver faster internet and better quality call services, besides transforming the lives of the different communities we work with. This will extend reach of broadband in Kenya and create new economic opportunities and enhanced access to entertainment,” said Ms. Ali-Kimanthi.
