I have done better than any other president Kenya has had. This is the statement that President Uhuru Kenyatta made during his highly charged address at Sagana.
In the meeting, President Uhuru cast himself as a hard working President who had improved the economy and uplifted livelihoods at a larger extent than the previous three heads of State, his father Jomo Kenyatta, Daniel Arap Moi, and Mwai Kibaki.
During his tenure, the president has been a subject of comparison against Mwai Kibaki who has tended to come up on top over his economic policies.

This was the second time the president was alluding that he is the best president Kenya has had since independence. In June 2021, the president stated that in a little under 7 years he had done more than founding father Mzee Jomo Kenyatta, the late Daniel Arap Moi and retired President Mwai Kibaki.
“The colonisers left us with a GDP of close to Sh. 6.4 billion, the combined administrations of Mzee Kenyatta, Moi and Kibaki increased the national cake to Sh. 4.5 trillion, in a span of 50 years, but in only 8 years I have; has doubled that, and we are worth Sh. 10.3 trillion,”
Uhuru had said.
During his address at Sagana, President Uhuru also officially endorsed former Prime Minister and opposition leader Raila Odinga for the presidency, and vowed to campaign for him. He also castigated his deputy William Ruto over what he termed as lies and theft of public resources. However, it was not clear why despite the president’s acknowledgement of Ruto stealing, there have been no charges against him up until now.
“Church leaders stop lying to people. Each and every one of us love God. And love peace. And we tithe according to how God has blessed us. Don’t come hear lying to us because you’ve have been given money,”
the President said.
“You didn’t elect me to just sit as the President. You elected me to protect you. I held talks with Raila and told Ruto that I had agreement with him…We agreed to forge on with BBI. Tell me where I went wrong? Didn’t we have peace?”
