Inside musician Samidoh’s dairy farm making up to Sh. 330,000 monthly

Samuel Muchoki who is popularly known as Samidoh wears many hats. He is a singer, a police officer, and a university student. Unknown to many people though, the musician is also a farmer.

At his home in Ol Joroorok, Nyandarua County, Samidoh has established a thriving dairy farm.

Samidoh’s cattle include the Fresian breed which is considered one of the best breeds for dairy farming due to its high milk production capacity.

The traditional Friesian sells at over Sh. 100,000 with pure breeds going for hundreds of thousands more.

Each of the Friesian breed has can produce over 28 litres of milk in a day. With a litre of milk retailing for around Sh. 50 the Samidoh’s dairy farm could be easily making over Sh. 11,000 daily from his eight lactating dairy cows, translating to around Sh. 330,000 gross revenues every month.

His bet on zero grazing dairy farming might notbbe so farfetched. Dairy farming is considered to be a big opportunity in Kenya. Kenya’s cows produce over 3.5 billion litres of milk a year.

Kenyans consume more milk than people in any other country in Africa, and the demand for dairy products is on the rise. By 2030, Kenya is likely to become a net dairy exporter.

Apart from farming, the musician has also been establishing himself in Ol Joroorok, with frequent visits that have raised questions on whether he would aspire to contest for political seat in future.

Evidently, though, the musician, who rose from abject poverty to become one of the most biggest musical acts out of the Central region has hone on to establish himself as one of the richest.

Beyond his farming venture, Samidoh runs an extremely busy music performance diary in Kenya and outside Kenya, besides his official job as a police officer.
