Nominated Member of Parliament, David Ole Sankok has had both his guns taken away from him pending forensic examinations by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI). One of the firearms was used by his son, Memusi preceding his unfortunate suicide. The DCI has taken in the two guns owned by Sankok; a shotgun and a Ceska pistol for further analysis on their usage since his ownership of the guns began.

Narok County criminal investigations officer Mwenda Ethaiba confirmed that a post-mortem report done on 15-year-old, Memusi Sankok revealed that he died of a bullet injury through his head, hence the need to carry out an analysis on the guns. He said that the Nominated MP will not be allowed to continue with his possession of the guns despite him being a licensed gun holder until all investigations are carried out.

“We are continuing investigations and we have taken the MP’s gun to Nairobi and we are waiting for the results, despite we already have established that it is a single bullet that took the young man’s life,” Ethaiba said.

Narok County Criminal investigations officers have interrogated 10 people who were witnesses and they are analyzing the statements given before ruling a verdict on what transpired at the homestead that fateful day. Some of those interrogated include Sankok, his wife and a few employees of Osim Country lodge.

“We are now compiling a report from the interrogation and other forensic evidence and we will in the next one day release a report and the way forward,” Ethiaba said.

Several reports claim that police are planning on charging Sankok for his negligence in handling his firearm after which if the motion succeeds, he will lose his firearm license effectively.

On other matters, Sankok’s family has requested that Kenyans on social media avoid getting political on their son’s death. Instead of criticizing the family, they urge Kenyans to help them mourn the death of their son as losing a child is difficult for any rational human being.

Narok leaders such as Governor Tunai, Ole Ntutu, Onsemus Ngunjiri and Lemanken Aramat as well as religious leaders have been at the forefront of leading Kenyans into condoling with their family. Governor Tunai has promised that his government at Narok will be of vital assistance in preparation for the burial next week Tuesday. He said that it was an unfortunate event.

Gubernatorial aspirant, Patrick Ole Ntutu urged the Sankok family to seek strength and thank God and know that it is He who gives and He who takes away.

Onesmus Ngunjiri, MP Bahati said that the tragic events were unfortunate and he requests Kenyans to stop the uncalled Social media criticism and mourn with the family. Netizens from all over the world began sending their condolences to the family following Memusi Sankok’s death.
