- KCB FC will lock horns with Shabana FC in a Kenya Premier League clash tomorrow afternoon at the Dandora Stadium.
The Bankers are eager to return to winning ways, having gone five matches without a victory. Their most recent outing saw them fall 1-0 to Talanta FC at the same venue, a result that left Patrick Odhiambo’s side in 7th place on the table with 41 points.
“We are not happy with our recent performances. This team should be fighting for trophies alongside other local giants. As we head into the crucial part of the season, we need to treat each game as a final to secure maximum points. Shabana is a tough opponent, they have proved that they are a top side so, we have to be confident and minimize errors when we face off with them tomorrow,” noted KCB Head Coach Patrick Odhiambo.
Last season, under Bernard Mwalala, KCB finished the season 10th with 45 points and reached the final in the FKF Cup. When Patrick Odhiambo took over, expectations were high that he would be the man to lead KCB FC to its maiden KPL title. However, things have not gone well for the bankers who have struggled in the second half of the season.
KCB FC Captain Michael Mutinda said: “We are all united at this point. We know what is expected of us and we know what we need to do to turn our fortunes around. I urge our fans to remain calm because we will weather the storm and bounce back to winning ways. The boys are full of confidence and ready to face Shabana.”
KCB are still missing the services of goalkeeper coach Samuel Koko and defender Manzur Okwaro who are with the U20 side in Egypt for the ongoing U20 AFCON tournament.
Winger Stephen Etyang is still a doubt for the clash due to illness while Nashon Alembi and Haniff Wesonga are back. Bonphas Munyasa, Kevin Okumu, Nashon Wekesa, Maurice Ojwang, Michael Mutinda, Derrick Otieno, Dennis Maruti, Francis Kahiro, James Kinyanjui, and Danson Kiprono are all expected to feature for Odhiambo in tomorrow’s crunch clash
