Man loses boda after paying off Sh. 215k loan; suspects lender stole it

Co-Op post

Simon Mulwa has found himself on the back of stressful days after diligently paying off a huge chunk of his motorbike loan, only for it to be snatched away.

In a disheartening twist of fate, Mulwa believes that this is an inside job by the company that owns the motorcycle.

He says that he acquired the motorbike in April 2022, as he sought to improve his life with a bodaboda. It was his only source of livelihood.

Mulwa’s bodaboda held promise for a brighter future as he made profits with it and managed to pay off Sh. 215,200 in total so far. Week after week, he faithfully repaid Sh. 3,329 to service the loan.

However, his hopes to clear debt and improve his circumstances have been shattered by  a string of queer incidents.

Allegedly, his motorbike rider was arrested and the vehicle was impounded at Kasarani police station.

“Pikipiki yangu ilishikwa na rider ikapelekwa Kasarani. Nilipoenda huko, niliambiwa ni juu ya loan. Lazima, kampuni ikuje iitoe,” he narrated.

Albeit him being the owner of the motorcycle, the company retained the authority to reclaim it in such a circumstance. What followed left Simon Mulwa in shock.

“Nilipigia Kampuni simu wakaniambia eti tracker imetolewa. Walipotoa hiyo pikipiki, sikupewa ufunguo. Waliita mfanyikazi mmoja hapo akashikanisha direct nikaenda nayo,” Mulwa said in an interview.

Frustration seemingly visible in his words, in the subsequent days, Mulwa’s life took another turn. After the company returned his boda, 3 days later they reportedly sent two individuals to forcefully retrieve the motorbike.

“Nilikaa na pikipiki siku tatu ndio nikakujiwa na watu wawili walisema wametumwa na kampuni wakaninyang’anya pikipiki,” Simon Mulwa continued.

Struggling to comprehend the situation at play, Mulwa decided to call the company for more clarification. The only thing he was receiving were conflicting responses.

The company denied sending anyone and assured him they would launch investigations into the matter. The motorbike still had a tracker on it.

“Nilipopiga simu huko niliambiwa watafuatilia, sahizi wanasema hawakutuma mtu yeyote. Hawashiki simu zangu, nimetumia mbinu zote kufuatilia lakini sijafanikiwa.”

Left jobless and in distress, Mulwa shared his ordeal, confidently sure that the company had stolen his motorbike from him. His stance remains clear, he wants justice to be served.

“I only want someone to help me file a case against them coz niko na evidence waliniibia motorbike yangu,” he concluded.
