SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT UPGRADE THROUGH THE HUB AND ROTARY CLUB OF KAREN

The Hub Karen Mall, East Africa’s first open-air shopping destination has partnered with the Rotary Club of Karen for the second year running to boost health, education and vocational community projects in Karen.

Through the Thanksgiving 10 KM Charity Walk, the partnership will raise funds for Nkaimurunya Primary School, Karen Police Station, Rotary Community Corp in Kuwinda and the Karen Technical Training Institute for the Deaf.

“Giving back to the community is a pillar that sits at the core of our business. We are keen to see the development of our community and being directly part of the growth story,” said Kobus Weyers, the Mall Manager.

The Rotary Club of Karen is part of a global network of 34,000 clubs and 1.2 million volunteers aimed at providing service to communities in need of support.

In partnership with The Hub Karen and Carrefour, the Rotary Club of Karen also supports six charity homes in Karen with food donations on a monthly basis.

“Through our partnership for community development, we are committed to enhancing the livelihoods of the communities where we live and work and share our global goal of improving quality of life around the world,” said Eva Nderu, President, Rotary Club of Karen.

The Hub Karen’s focus in CSR supports sustainable development initiatives that benefit the larger community through initiatives in conservation, youth and sports, education and security.

The 10 KM walk, flagged off from the main Karen-Hub Square at 6:00 am attracted walkers drawn from Karen residents, surrounding schools, business and community members.
