The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has announced that it will organize a special KCSE exam for the eight students who are members of the Kenya Women Under-17 national team.
The eight will be participating in the Women’s Under-17 World Cup which will be held in the Dominican Republic in November.
The competition coincides with the KCSE exams and will see the students miss their tests scheduled to start on November 4 and end on November 22.
The eight players include Rebecca Odato Orute from Dagoretti Mixed, Velma Awour and Christine Adhiambo from AIC Nyakach Girls, Lorine Illavonga and Velma Bwire from Wiyeta Girls, Quinter Adhiambo from Alara Girls, Clares Meries from Kobala Secondary School, and Marion Serenge from Archbishop Njenga.
Parents have four days to register students on SHIF
KNEC CEO David Njengere said arrangements are in place for the affected students to sit the exam before the day of the final paper.
“The council will liaise with centre managers of the affected six secondary schools and make appropriate arrangements within the examination period for administration of the 2024 KCSE papers that clash with the World Cup fixtures,” Knec said in its letter to PS for Youth Affairs.
Kenya will play Group C matches between October 18 and 24, 2024, with potential quarter-final matches scheduled between October 26 and 28, 2024.
The teams that will be successful in the quarter-finals will progress to the final stages up to the final day of the tournament on November 3.
