Sportpesa is considering listing on the Nairobi Securities Exchange over the next two years. This is according to Sportpesa chief executive officer Ronald Karuri.
“That is our plan and we will initiate it in the next two years. Though no active conversations have started yet but we are seriously thinking about NSE listing,” said Karauri.
The firm said that as of the year start, it had remitted to Kenya Revenue Authority in excess of Sh1.6 billion at the start of the year. The announcement coincides with calls by MPs for a complete overhaul of gaming law as well as inquiries into the activities of gambling firms with emphasis on tax compliance and disclosure of information.
There has been an increase in the number of betting companies mushrooming into the local market with SportPesa, Betway, Bet-in and Elitebet topping the list, with the number expected to grow judging by rising popularity of sport gaming in the country.
Sportpesa’s financial results, though not in public domain, show impressive growth since SportPesa was established.
