Suzanne Silantoi: 29-year-old single girl with Sh. 36 million net worth

Nairobi governor Johnson Sakaja appointed Ms. Suzanne Silantoi, his former political rival, to the County Executive Committee for Inclusivity, Public Participation and Customer Service.

At 29 years, Suzanne Silantoi contested for the Nairobi Senatorial seat unsuccessfully in the 2017 general election, losing to Johnson Sakaja who won the seat then. Since then, she has kept away from cameras and the limelight.

After her unsuccessful stab at elective politics, Ms. Silantoi flew abroad to pursue a Masters’s degree in Public Policy and Administration from the University of York in the UK. She graduated with the class of 2021.

During her vetting done by the Nairobi County Assembly Select Committee on Appointment on Monday evening, Ms. Silantoi noted that she is worth Sh. 36 million.

She attributes most of her wealth to shared family property, including Ancestral pieces in Samburu County.

“I come from a family of just one sibling and I’m single,” she told the vetting panel.

While in the ongoing vetting process, Ms. Silantoi was surprised when one of the Committee members, Moses Nyangaresi Ogeto (Kilimani) asked whether she was looking for a party.

“Actually, I don’t see what that has to do with my docket,” she responded to him.

Her docket (Inclusivity, Public Participation and Customer Service) was introduced by Governor Sakaja to improve the relationship between Nairobi residents, traders, investors and his administration.

Ms. Silantoi said that she would ensure that the customer experience with the county government is improved if the committee approves her for the position.

Among the ten nominees who were vetted, Ms. Silantoi and Innovation and Digital Economy nominee Mr. Michael Gumo are the only people who said they are single.

However, Mr. Gumo said that he is having someone, and will be working to settle with her soon.

The Digital docket nominee Mr. Gumo’s drinking habit was raised before the committee.

He assured them that if approved, he would reduce alcohol consumption since he will be having a huge task to deliver to the residents and to meet the governor’s promises to the county residents.
