The Safaricom powered mini classic rally will be flagged off at the Waterfront, Karen on Sunday, 9th December and end at The Sarova Woodlands, Nakuru on Tuesday 11th December 2018.
As part of the preparations for the race, the 26 cars taking part in the event will go through a rigorous scrutineering process on Saturday at the Waterfront.
The race is being held in memory of the late J.S.Vohra who was the chairman of the East Africa Safari Classic Rally (EASC)
The 4-day competition will cover 600Kms with the drivers passing through Kajiado, Narok, Baringo and Nakuru.
Safaricom has sponsored the rally to a tune of KES 4 Million and has also provided 4G internet for the organisers.
“We continue to support EASC’s efforts geared towards growing the classic rally and we’re particularly excited to be part of the mini classic in memory of JS Vohra who was an icon and a legend in Kenya’s rally scene, ” said Sylvia Mulinge, Chief Customer Officer, Safaricom.
The rally’s tracking system has been improved by the inclusion of Safaricom’s 4G+ network. Boosted by high internet speeds, rally enthusiasts will find it easier to track and monitor their favourite rally drivers and navigators through their mobile phones.
Renowned local navigator Ravi Soni will be leading with a Porsche 911 car alongside his driver, former National Rally Champion Baldev Charger. Other teams and drivers expected are Tapio Laukkanen from Finland, Raaji Bharij, Ian Duncan, Tejveer Rai and Farhaaz Khan.
