Black & White: The Dawn of Assault is a 2012 Taiwanese action thriller film that is directed by Tsai Yueh-hsun.
The film is a prequel to Black & White (2009). It was released on January 13, 2012.
The movie was Taiwan’s first action movie blockbuster. At the at the Chinese box office, the movie grossed 89.5 million Chinese Yen.
The movie stars Mark Chao (Hero Wu), Huang Bo (Hsu Ta-fu), and Angelababy (Fan Ning), and runs for 153 minutes.
According to Film Biz Asia, this movie which was set in an unnamed country and in the fictional Harbour City — which had an incredible resemblance to Taiwan’s second city, Kaohsiung — Black & White has a plot that starts as a “simple” diamond trade but mushrooms into one involving police and government corruption, international terrorists, computer files, and an anti-matter bomb.
Hsu Ta-fu, a timid gangster arbitrarily uses illicit money to earn extra income for his beloved woman. When he is about to succeed, a mysterious team interrupt his plan. Hero Wu originally thought this is a simple underground trade, but after catching Hsu Ta-fu, he fell into another big conspiracy.
