Two people have been confirmed dead after a light aircraft crashed at Kedong Ranch in Naivasha.
The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) confirmed the crash, which involved a Cessna 185 aircraft, registration 5Y-BVL on Thursday evening at 5:14 PM.
“KCAA regrets to confirm that an aircraft accident occurred late yesterday at Kedong Ranch, Naivasha, involving a Cessna 185 aircraft. There were two persons on board (POB: 02), both of whom have unfortunately lost their lives. The initial information was reported by a member of the public to the Rescue Coordination Centre (RCC),” KCAA stated.
It has been established that the plane had taken off from Wilson Airport at around 1.30 pm and was headed to Mbaruk when the accident occurred.
The cause of the accident is yet to be established with investigators expected to conduct a detailed assessment of the wreckage and flight data.
“KCAA is actively coordinating with relevant authorities, including the Air Accident Investigation Department (AAID), emergency responders, and local security personnel, to gather further details and facilitate response efforts,” KCAA remarked.

This is the second plane crash case to be reported in the country this year following the Malindi town crash that left three people dead.The accident occurred on January 10, at Kwa Chocha area of Malindi town.
The aircraft had just taken off at the Malindi International Airport when it developed mechanical problems.
The pilot’s attempt to land in an open field proved futile, and the plane crash-landed along the Malindi-Mombasa Highway, killing a boda-boda rider, his passenger, and a pillion passenger.
The aircraft had three people on board, the pilot, a flight attendant, and a student, who survived with minor injuries and were rushed to the hospital for treatment.
