Joy as abandoned single mom of eight gets Sh. 100,000 business capital

Life had taken a bad turn for Sophia Nyatoti. She was hopeless. She saw no way out from her situation. You see, Nyatoti had just delivered triplets. While this would count as a blessing for many mothers, her little ones only compounded her already complicated life. You see, she was stuck in hospital with a bill she couldn’t offload. In addition, she was already a single mother of five, living in a dilapidated mud house.

To make matters worse, at the same hospital where she was admitted to deliver her triplets was her older son who was nursing major burn injuries after stepping on a live electric wire. Having stayed at the hospital for months, he too had accumulated a huge bill that Sophia had no way of settling.

A few months down the line, Sophia has since left the hospital. This is thanks to Kenyans who through philanthropist Ndungu Nyoro came forward to help her settle her hospital bills.

And now, Sophia, who hails from Rongai in Nakuru County, can dare to dream of a bright future for herself and children. This is because real estate developer Certified Homes has gone a mile further to ensure that she has a place to earn her livelihood. The fast rising real estate developer has gifted Sophia with Sh. 100,000 worth of business capital.

“When her case came to our attention, we thought of the best way to ensure that her life could be changed for better. We decided to help her reopen her collapsed business so that she could have a place to earn her family’s livelihood,” says Peter Nyaga, the chief executive officer at Certified Homes. Mr. Nyaga said that Certified Homes pledged to fund Sophia with Sh. 100,000, a pledge that has now been fulfilled with a cheque.

This is not the first time that the developer is extending a corporate helping hand. “We firmly believe in going the extra miles to help our countrymen whenever we can,” says Nyaga. Currently, the developer is offering apartments in Kahawa Sukari dubbed Sukari Heights. The Sukari Heights project is located in the most exclusive Kahawa Sukari neighborhood, which is just 15 minutes drive from the Nairobi Central Business District. The project is also just 20 minutes drive from the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

In the project, the houses are going for Sh. 2.7 million, with the option of paying in installments. “Studio, 2 and 3 bedrooms plus SQ are going from Sh. 2.7 million. Buyers can make a  deposit of Sh. 1.5 million and settle the balance in 24 months,” Nyaga said.
