The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced changes to the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) and the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) Exams in a bid to curb cheating.
The commission has unveiled guidelines that will be followed in the manning of the exams including the selection of supervisors and invigilators.
TSC CEO Nancy Macharia invited sub-county directors to nominate teachers who will be involved in the administration and management of exams.
Macharia instructed the directors to nominate qualified teachers registered by TSC. She added that supervisors and invigilators be assigned to examination centres where they have no personal interest.
“Centre managers will be required to verify supervisors and invigilators posted in their centres by confirming their details and workstation. They will be required to take attendance on a daily basis; The teachers in schools with learners of Stage-Based Pathway will invigilate their own learners.”
TSC set to redeploy primary school teachers to JSS
“For every 10 learners, there should be one invigilator. These invigilators will be required to sign the declaration form like other centres. No supervisor or Centre Manager will be deployed for KILEA Centres,” Macharia said.
The 2024 Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) exams are scheduled to begin on October 28 and end on October 30, with the rehearsals set to begin on October 25, 2024.
On the other hand, the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) will begin on October 22 and end on November 22.
