TSC Interviews: Nearly all unemployed teachers in Kenya applied for the 11, 574 vacancies that were announced by the Teachers Service Commission in September.
According to the TSC head of corporate affairs Beatrice Wababu, over 300,000 teachers applied for the positions. These included teachers who are employed by private schools. The number almost matched that of the TSC employed teachers which stands at 337,432.
This huge number of applicants has forced the TSC to review its recruitment schedule, with interviews now set to kick-off next Thursday. “The numbers were overwhelming. There are so many people who applied, more than we expected and we have to give every applicant a chance and go through their application,” Ms. Wababu said.
TSC: List of successful recruitment applicants is ready
On Thursday, she disclosed that the list of the successful applicants was ready. “The timelines for the recruitment of teachers have been reviewed. Successful applicants will be informed about the venues of the interviews by county officers,” Ms. Wababu said.
According to the commission, the county selection process and filing of the application for employment forms by successful candidates will run from October 8-14. Vetting and handling of complaints arising from the exercise will be carried out from October 15-22 at county levels.
The commission will be receiving documents at its headquarters in Nairobi on October 23-26. TSC will then start to verify the results from October 27 to November 18, before the successful teachers report to various schools on January 4, 2021. The county directors will then submit reporting status to the commission by the end of January. TSC Interviews.
