The United States has announced that it has started revoking visas of persons who were found celebrating the death of conservative political activist Charlie Kirk. At the same time, visa applicants who are found online celebrating Charlie Kirk’s assassination are being denied visas. This has been announced by the US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
“America will not host foreigners who celebrate the death of our fellow citizens. Visa revocations are underway. If you are here on a visa and cheering on the public assassination of a political figure, prepare to be deported. You are not welcome in this country,” said Rubio.
In a related interview with Fox News, Rubio said that the State Department was making any celebrations of the death of Charlie Kirk one of the primary reasons for visa denials.
“We are not in the business of inviting people to visit our country who are going to be involved in negative and destructive, okay,” he said. “If I invite someone, if we invite someone to visit the United States of America, as a student, as a tourist, as whatever, then the standard they should be held to is very high.”

Apart from visa revocations, senior government officials in President Donald Trump’s administration have also called for the firing of workers who are caught celebrating Kirk’s death.
“Hell, call their employer. We don’t believe in political violence, but we do believe in civility, and there is no civility in the celebration of political assassination,” said US Vice President JD Vance.
Kirk was shot dead on September 10, 2025 while on stage at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. He was shot in the neck at around 12.23pm, about 20 minutes after the event he was attending that was dubbed ‘The American Comeback Tour’ started. The event had attracted an audience of around 3,000 people.
22-year-old Tyler Robinson, a student at the university, was arrested as the main suspect in the murder. Robinson was turned in to the authorities by his father.
