Police have arrested a man believed to be part of a carjacking syndicate after suspicions linked him to the robbery of Uber lady Victoria Mumbua, a driver who had been missing for five days.
Mumbua’s colleagues revealed that some individuals offered her a job to drive them from Diani to Samburu. The arrangement included her driving them around in her car once they reached Samburu.
The trip began on September 25th, 2024, and since then, no one has heard from Mumbua or knows where she is. Growing anxiety and suspicion suggest that her passengers may have been carjackers.
The family reported the incident to Makupa Police Station in Diani, where it was recorded as a case of missing persons. A tracker in the vehicle showed it was last in Kisumu before losing signal.

Since then, there have been no updates on Mumbua or the vehicle’s location. Uber drivers brought up the issue on social media, which quickly gained public attention and caught the interest of the police.
On Sunday, the vehicle was spotted in Nakuru with the same number plates, which hadn’t been altered despite the situation. A male suspect was arrested and taken to the police station for questioning, as investigations continue to unfold.
At the time of the arrest, the woman’s whereabouts remained unknown. Police reports indicate she was not with the male suspect when he was taken into custody.
