Uhuru New Restrictions: President Uhuru Kenyatta has issued new restrictions in his latest address to Kenyans. The president has banned all political gatherings for a period of 30 days starting from Friday midnight.
“Cognisant that the propagation of this disease within our borders has been fueled by political gatherings and large social gatherings, I hereby direct that all forms of political gatherings be and hereby prohibited for a period of thirty days effective midnight on this March 12, 2021,” Uhuru said. The president, together with ODM leader Raila Odinga and Deputy president William Ruto have been at the forefront in violating restrictions on political gatherings.
At the same time, the president extended the curfew by 60 days.
He announced that the burials in the country should be conducted within 72 hours of the confirmation of death and gatherings will be limited to family members, capped at 100 persons. The number also applies to weddings.

Curfew extended for 60 days.
All bars and restaurants must close by 9pm.
Exemption of curfew on essential services. Factories, construction sites that work on night shifts also exempted.
All political gatherings prohibited for 30 days effective today.
Funerals to be within 72 hour of death confirmation.
Attendees at funerals to be no more than 100 family members.
Weddings capped at 100 people.
Wash of hands, social distancing, wearing masks to continue.
Places of worship to have 1/3 capacity.
Vaccine roll out in phases:
Phase 1 – frontline health workers, uniformed personnel, teachers, emergency service providers e.g. fire fighters.
Phase 2 – elderly, people with pre-existing conditions.
Vaccination is voluntary.
