In life, there are times when we face hardships and those closest to us are expected to be our pillar of support.
However, for one man, his family members were not there during his time of need. The man had fallen on hard times and was unemployed.
His family members mistreated him and made him feel ashamed of his situation. However, he is now successful and has completely refused to assist them in any way, let alone be affiliated with them.
The man has made it clear that he holds a grudge against his family members. The man’s sibling reached out to the South African magazine, Bizana to complain about the ‘foul grudge’.
“I have a brother who is working for the government but doesn’t want to build our home or a room for himself. He’s staying in a caravan,” the message read.
“Last week we had an argument with him, he towed his caravan and parked it in a tavern and stayed there. Even now he’s still there.”
The matter escalated and went viral when the man hit back at his sibling by sharing his struggle confession and side of the story, through the Bizana Magazine channel.
He started by saying that when he was unemployed he wasn’t taken seriously in anything at home. He added that his sisters couldn’t even buy him Roll-on or data for job hunting.
“They planned things behind my back. I was given a two-room shack to sleep in; the other room was for the chicken to sleep in. When it comes to food, I was the last person to be served.”
“One day I was coming from an interview and saw a tent at home. When I asked what was happening, I was told that I’m not working and I’ve got nothing to contribute so they didn’t see a reason to tell me,” he vented.
Later that day, he received a call to come to work on Monday. He mentioned that his family now claims to love him because he is working and they even post about him on Facebook and Whatsapp.
The mistreated man’s story on social media prompted supportive reactions from users. Several comments were posted on the thread, with many people giving their two cents on the matter.
A common consensus was reached; that family members can mistreat their own.
Here are some of the comments:
Linda Zinhle: I support him too…if you have to cut off people, even if they are family members…do that for your own peace.
Baba kaMakhamnandi: I like this guy’s life…
Nceba Sparks: Families can be toxic too
AshleyAmberl1: I learnt the hard way that family is the worst toxic out there so if this is what he wants, I am behind him 1000%.
