Kenyans applying for Visa renewals at the US Embassy in Nairobi will not be subjected to visa interviews. This has been announced by US Ambassador to Kenya Meg Whitman.
Ambassador Whitman said that this waiver will be given to Kenyans applying for renewal of their tourist, business or student visas. She said that this is the latest attempt by the Embassy to solve a backlog crisis that has stretched as far as 2024.
However, to qualify, your visa must not have expired more than four years ago. Here is the full statement on the visa interview waiver by the US Ambassador Meg Whitman:
“As part of Ambassador Whitman’s pledge to reduce the nonimmigrant visa interview appointment backlog, the United States Embassy in Nairobi announced today that it has expanded the Interview Waiver Program for nonimmigrant visas.
Effective immediately, those applying for tourist/business (B1/B2), student (F, J, M), or crew visas (CI/D) categories may be eligible for a visa renewal without an interview.
