A tragic accident took place in the Mai-Mahiu area around 7 am on Friday. A trailer carrying luxury vehicles crashed along the Nakuru-Nairobi highway, resulting in the death of at least one person.

Reports indicate that the driver lost control of the vehicle carrier, causing the trailer, along with the luxury cars it was transporting, to tip over and plunge down a cliff into the valley.

Footage and images captured by witnesses show the luxury vehicles completely wrecked, with the trailer overturned and severely damaged. Local residents, who were among the first responders, rushed to the scene to help those injured in the crash.

The accident led to a major traffic jam on the busy highway. Police officers arrived at the scene, towing the trailer from the valley to the nearest station. Traffic marshals were also on hand to help clear the road and manage the flow of vehicles.

The Mai Mahiu area is a notoriously known blackspot due to the frequent accidents that occur there. Emergency services were quickly sent to the scene to carry out search and rescue efforts following the crash.

The rescue teams will be operating on difficult terrain and will help police officers make a report after the investigation is concluded.
