Vehicle registration, transfer now to take 10 minutes

Vehicle registration, transfer now to take 10 minutes

The manual system for vehicle registration and transfer has been dropped in favour of an instant digitized platform.

The acquisition of log books, which currently takes up to a month will be reduced to just 10 minutes.

According to the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), the new system known as Transport Integrated Management Systems (TIMS) will be rolled out in phases, with the final phase set to be rolled out in December.

When using the system, a vehicle seller will set up a profile under TIMS and a transfer will be done by entering the personal identification number of the person receiving the vehicle. The seller will then receive a notification that they have transferred the vehicle while the buyer will also simultaneously receive a notification. The buyer will log in and enter the code they have received to accept the transfer.
