The luxury high end hotel Villa Rosa Kempinski is set to send the majority of its employees home. The hotel becomes the latest employer in the hospitality industry to send workers home.
According to a memo that was sent to staff by the hotel managing director Roberto Simone, Kempinski’s business has been greatly affected by the coronavirus pandemic that has brought much of the business to a standstill. According to Simone, the sacked employees will be paid their redundancy dues in accordance to the Employment Act, 2007 and the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
The memo from the Villa Rosa Kempinski management further told the affected workers to contact the hotel’s human resource department. “We are confident that the proposed changes will put the hotel on a firm footing and allow us to grow sustainability for the years to come,” Simone in the letter dated June 9, 2020. Villa Rosa is owned by Simba Corporation.
