Singer Wahu Kagwi recounted how her music career landed her into trouble while in her twenties.
In a statement, Wahu revealed she was denied tenancy in a one-bedroom apartment she had secured, despite having signed the contract and putting together the down payment.
While the reason for eviction was not revealed to her, Wahu believes she was misjudged for being a musician by the owners of the apartment, who happened to be a Christian organization.
“Unfortunately, I was judged as a single young girl who loves to sing. Maybe I would bring men to the house or engage in regular drinking, a look they didn’t want to associate with. So even without giving me a chance to show them who I was, I was “evicted” before I moved in,’’ she stated.
About 15 years later, stars had aligned for Wahu, and the same organization that evicted her ironically approached her with an offer to be their brand ambassador.

Even though she had forgiven them and moved on, Wahu declined the offer as the role didn’t feel right for her.
“I really was not the young girl they had judged me to be, and even if I was, shouldn’t the church love such “wayward” people as Jesus did?” she added.
Expressing gratitude for being raised in the church, Wahu said actions speak louder than words, and one should not claim to be a Christian when their actions don’t align with the biblical teachings about Christianity.
