40Forty Lounge: Meet Kenyan couple who own popular Westlands club

Allan and Irene Igambi are the owners of 40Forty Lounge, a trendy nightclub located in the bustling Westlands area of Nairobi.

Since its founding in 2017, the club has become a popular destination for partygoers and revellers looking to have a good time.

40Forty Lounge, which is situated in Stellato Mall along Muthithi Road, offers party animals a stunning panoramic view of Nairobi’s skyline, in addition to its inviting and warm ambience.

Irene and Allan, the couple behind the establishment of 40Forty Lounge, have a wealth of experience in the hospitality industry.

Having served in various roles within the industry, they recognized the potential for profitability if the business is managed effectively.

Driven by their passion for entertainment and their understanding of the industry, they decided to establish their own venture, resulting in the popular 40Forty Lounge.

The couple draws their inspiration from American billionaire Rapper Jay Z. He owns a club in New York called 40/40.

“He’s our inspiration mostly because he showed us that you can come from nothing and rise all the way to the top if only you put your best efforts towards chasing your dreams,” Irene said in a past interview.

Inside the 40Forty Lounge, guests can enjoy three distinct spaces: the main club, balcony level, and outdoor terrace.

Each space offers a unique experience and vantage point for clubgoers to enjoy the sights and sounds of the lounge.

Speaking about establishing the business, Irene Igambi notes that it’s been a great ride thus far.

“Even when you get nothing, in the end, it’s yours and you’ve put in your 100%. It’s the best feeling ever, knowing that you are moving closer to your targets and goals in life.”

Irene’s husband, Allan Igambi, is a former Budget Controller and Nairobi County Executive Member for Finance.

In 2020, he faced pressure to clarify allegations of irregular payment of pending bills, with a reported loss of over Sh280 million.

Igambi was relieved of his duties by the then Nairobi Governor Anne Kananu in a surprising move. Prior to his sacking, Igambi was transferred from the Finance docket to the Food and Agriculture docket where he served as the acting CEC.
