Fuel prices in Kenya have risen to yet another historic high. The government of President William Ruto has now increased the price of super petrol by Sh. 5.72 per litre, diesel by Sh. 4.48 and kerosene by Sh. 2.45 to retail at Sh. 217.36, Sh. 205.47 and Sh. 205.06 respectively, in Nairobi.
“Taking into account the weighted average cost of imported refined petroleum products, the changes in the maximum allowed petroleum pump prices in Nairobi are as follows: Super Petrol, Diesel and Kerosene increases by Sh. 5.72, Sh.4.48 and Sh. 2.45 per litre respectively,” the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) said
In the previous period that started on September 15, Super Petrol prices had been increased by Sh.16.96, Diesel by Sh.21.32 per litre and Kerosene by Sh.33.13 per litre.
As a result, Super Petrol, Diesel and Kerosene had been retailing at Sh. 211.64, Sh. 200.99 and Sh. 202.61 respectively.

The EPRA said that the prices are inclusive of the 16 per cent Value Added Tax (VAT) in line with the provisions of the Finance Act 2023, the Tax Laws (Amendment) Act 2020 and the revised rates for excise duty adjusted for inflation as per Legal Notice No. 194 of 2020.
