Starting January 2024, tourists will have to fork out more money to see the animals at Kenya’s Nairobi National Park.
This is as per a proposal made by the Kenyan Wildlife Service (KWS) to increase fees for major tourist attractions.
Adults who are originally from the East African Community (EAC), including Kenyans, will start paying highs of Sh. 2,000 per person, up from Sh. 430. Children will pay Sh. 500, an increase from the initial 215.
Adults from African countries not in the East African Community (EAC) will pay Sh. 3582 while the children will pay Sh. 1433.
Conversely, foreign international visitors not from Africa will have to comply with Sh. 14,330 ($100) per adult and Sh. 2,866 ($20) per child.
Currently, foreign tourists part with Sh. 6,364 ($43) per adult and Sh. 3,153 ($22) per child.
Making Money From the Most Expensive Birds: These Birds Fetch up to Sh320,000
The amended prices will be applicable only during peak seasons, that range between April to June.
Furthermore, the KWS will impose a fee of Sh. 1,000 for EAC and resident adult during high season to tour Amboseli and Lake Nakuru National Parks.
Adults originating from other African countries, as well as international visitors, will pay Sh. 7,167 ($50) and Sh. 14,335 ($100) respectively to access the same facilities
In low season, EAC and resident adults will be required to pay Sh800 for entry into the parks. For adults from other African countries and the rest of the world, the fees will be Sh. 5,017 ($35) and Sh. 11,468 ($80) respectively.
Previously, visitors to these scenic facilities were paying Sh. 860 for adults and Sh215 for children.
