The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has started the mass auction of cars that have overstayed at the Port of Mombasa.
Unlike previous KRA auction of cars and goods, this particular KRA auction is taking place online as the agency moves to curb rogue bidders.
The KRA auction will last for a whole week beginning August 14 until August 20.
“KRA is running an Online Auction to sell overstayed cargo at the Port of Mombasa. The Auction is running from Monday 14th August 2023 to Sunday 20th August 2023,” said KRA.
Apart from cars, it will also include other goods whose owners have failed to claim them.
In total, the auction has placed 56 cars on sale. The list of cars includes a Toyota Hilux Vigo which is the most expensive vehicle with a reserve price of Sh. 1.5 million and a used Hyundai which is the cheapest with a reserve price of Sh. 232,000.
The general goods on sale include bibles that have been listed at Sh. 3,000, clothing and treadmill that have been listed at Sh. 550,000 and 1,400 kilograms of gypsum powder that have been listed at Sh. 450,000.
