Former Starehe Member of Parliament (MP) Charles Njagua Kanyi, popularly known as Jaguar, has revealed that the Kenyan music industry is one of the lucrative ventures for talented artists.
He observed that he made more money as an artist compared to his earnings as Starehe constituency Member of Parliament.
”I am a product of music, even when I was an MP, and I have said this before, the amount of money I made as an artist, I actually never got it while I was in parliament,” he said.

Jaguar encouraged young, talented Kenyans to take advantage of the industry to make a decent income for themselves. He said this while responding to a Kenyan artist’s remarks about the financial outlook of the music industry.
“I saw an artist, Khaligraph’s brother, complaining saying that there is no money in music; I want to assure you that no industry has as much money as arts. Just be serious with your craft, drop a dope song, and music will come to you,” he said.
Jaguar started his political career in 2017 after winning the Starehe Constituency seat. He, however, lost to Amos Mwago in the 2022 elections and partially went back to his music career.
Early this year, he was nominated by President William Ruto to the position of Cabinet Administrative Secretary (CAS) in the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Arts and Sports.
