The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has unveiled new codes that will be used in the payment of some of its services.
In a public notice on Tuesday, the placement body said the move follows the government’s directive that all government services be integrated with the eCitizen platform.
The new changes affect various categories of people, including local students, universities, local NGOs, businesses, and bidders.
“For efficiency, KUCCPS services have been assigned codes for purposes of eCitizen transactions. Henceforth, stakeholders are advised to use the following payment reference codes while paying for the listed services via the platform,” read part of the notice.
KUCCPS noted that it has designed unique codes for every service and users will be required to use them when making payments.
For instance, Universities registering for membership will be required to use ‘RGMU’ while colleges will use ‘RMCL’ for the same service.
In addition, code ‘PDRL’ will be used by local students for the provision of data for research, while ‘PCCB’ will be used for the purchase of career books.

Meanwhile local NGOs and businesses will use ‘PNGO’ for the provision of data for research while bidders looking to purchase tender documents will be using the ‘PTDB’.
“To pay for services not listed above such as applications for replacement or inter-institutional transfers, follow eCitizen payment instructions as provided on the respective KUCCPS portal,” KUCCPS advised.
How to Pay Through eCitizen
According to KUCCPS, members of the public making payments through eCitizen will be required to follow the following steps.
- Go to M-Pesa menu
- Select Lipa na M-Pesa
- Select pay bill
- Key in the consolidated paybill number – 222222
- In place of the account number, key in the corresponding payment reference code then a hyphen and name of the client, all in capital letters.
- Key in the required amount to complete the process
”Forward the confirmation message to KUCCPS as proof of payment for the service,’’ KUCCPS added.
