Kenya Railways launched luxury travel coaches on the Madaraka Express. They will carry 28 passengers and feature fully reclining seats for ultimate relaxation during the journey.
These services will be offered under Kenya Railway Premium Services. The carrier explained that the seats provide ample legroom and personal space, and can also serve as beds for passengers who book the premium class.
“Fully reclining seats for your comfort and relaxation. KR Premium is set to redefine luxury travel with exclusive amenities and top-notch comfort,” they wrote.
They also confirmed there will be extra storage space for passengers, including space for shoes. Kenya Railways plans to introduce catering services for premium class passengers as well.

“Segregated from other compartments, the premium coach offers privacy and exclusivity ensuring passengers can work, relax or simply enjoy the beautiful scenery,” Kenya Railways wrote.
“Premium Class passengers will have access to VIP lounges and benefit from priority boarding and disembarkation at terminals, adding to the already existing convenience to their journey.”
Passengers travelling by SGR from Mombasa to Nairobi will pay Sh. 12,000 for a one-way ticket. The round trip will cost Sh. 20,000 for those who book both trips.
Transport PS Mohammed Daghar noted that those who do not book a return ticket will pay up to Sh. 24,000 for a trip to Nairobi and back.
“These coaches are designed to guarantee the rider comfort and convenience, marking a crucial step in elevating the rail travel experience for our users,” he said.
