On June 9, 2025, the Ministry of Education opened the Grade 10 Selection System that contains Grade 10 pathways. The system lists pathways and tracks that contain Grade 10 subject combinations that students in Grade 9 can choose from.
The pathways and tracks are categorized under Sciences, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), Social sciences (Languages and Literature, and Humanities and Business Studies), and Arts and Sports Science (Arts and Sports).
This is the full breakdown of the Grade 10 subject combinations:
STEM (Pathway) – Pure Sciences (Track)
Students who choose pure sciences as their preferred track in the STEM pathway will have to select from a subject combination that will include Advanced Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Aviation, Geography, General Science, Electricity, Building & Construction, Business Studies, Agriculture, Metal Work, Computer Studies, Marine & Fisheries, Power Mechanics, Wood Work, and Home Science.
STEM (Pathway) – Applied Sciences (Track)
Students who choose applied sciences as their preferred track in the STEM pathway will have to select from a subject combination that will include Agriculture, Physics, Advanced Mathematics, Chemistry, Computer Studies, Building & Construction, Aviation, Geography, Home Science, Wood Work, Marine & Fisheries, Metal Work, Electricity, Business Studies, Power Mechanics, and General Science.
STEM (Pathway) – Technical Studies (Track)
Students who choose technical studies as their preferred track in the STEM pathway will have to select from a subject combination that will include Biology, Media Technology, Computer Studies, General Science, Marine & Fisheries, Metal Work, Geography, Power Mechanics, Advanced Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Home Science, Electricity, Business Studies, Aviation, and Wood Work.

Arts & Sports (Pathway) – Arts, Sports (Track)
Students who choose arts or sports as their preferred track in the Arts & Sports pathway will have to select from Grade 10 subject combinations that will include Computer Studies, Fine Arts, Music & Dance, Biology, Theatre & Film, History & Citizenship, CRE, IRE, Arabic, HRE, General Science, Business Studies, Literature in English, Fasihi ya Kiswahili, French, German, Mandarin Chinese, Advanced Mathematics, Geography, Media Technology and Sports & Recreation.
