The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced mass internship opportunities for teachers in junior secondary schools to support the implementation of the Competency-Based curriculum.
In a notice on Tuesday, August 12, TSC invited qualified candidates to apply for the 24,000 available slots.
“The Teachers Service Commission invites applications from qualified candidates to fill 24,000 teacher internship posts in Junior Schools to support the implementation of Competency-Based Curriculum,” read part of the notice.
To qualify for recruitment, candidates must meet various requirements, including being a Kenyan citizen with at least a diploma in education with a minimum mean Grade of C+ (plus) and C+ (plus) in two teaching Subjects in KCSE or its equivalent.
Additionally, candidates must be registered teachers with the Teachers Service Commission. TSC will not consider applicants with a record of exiting teaching service with the Commission due to disciplinary reasons.
Candidates will be required to present original academic and professional certificates and must have a Personal Accident Insurance cover for personal risks during the internship period.

Selection of candidates will be strictly on merit and based on the number of vacancies per county.
The teachers’ employer added that successful candidates will be posted to serve in any junior school in the sub-county where they were interviewed or in any part of the county where the vacancy exists.
Successful candidates shall be required to teach various learning areas under the Junior School Curriculum.
“For equivalent qualifications, applicants are advised to visit the Teachers Service Commission’s website: www.tsc.go.ke,” TSC stated.
How to Apply
During verification, applicants shall be required to produce the following: –
- A copy of the Teacher Registration Certificate/print-out from TSC online portal as evidence of registration as a teacher.
- A copy of the National Council for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD) card (where applicable).
- A copy of the National Identity Card (ID) or Passport. 4. Two (2) colour passport-size photographs.
- A copy of the Kenya Revenue Authority Personal Identification Number (KRA PIN).
According to TSC, interested and qualified candidates should submit their applications online through the Commission’s website, www.tsc.go.ke, under “Careers” or teachersonline.tsc.go.ke.
Manual applications will not be considered. The deadline for application is September 9, 2025.
