In 2013, Waititu had vied for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat but lost to former Governor Evans Kidero. He then shifted to Kiambu where he contested for the Kabete parliamentary seat following the death ofbthe area MP.
Of late, Mr. Waititu has been engaged in a supremacy battle with his deputy James Nyoro who has been accusing Mr. Waititu of making it difficult for him to work. Mr. Waititu has however rubbished these claims.
