Radisson Blue Contest: What would you do if you found yourself in an elevator with someone you’ve always wanted to pitch your big business idea to? Well, the Radisson Blue Hotel is offering elevator pitch, which an opportunity to get the short-and-sweet version of their entrepreneurial vision across to investors.
Radisson Blul Upper Hill hotel’s #BLUPITCH Elevator Contest will take place on Friday October 12, 2018. “We are looking to enable young entrepreneurs, innovators and start-ups to submit their best original idea,” says Radisson in a statement.
One of the elevators within the hotel will set the scene for the #BLUPITCH Elevator Contest. Contestants will have to make every second count, with just the time it takes to reach the eighth floor and back to the lobby to present their pitch to a panel mentor. That means each successful contestant will have around 60 seconds to leave an exciting, impactful and meaningful impression.
The winner will gain the mentorship of his favourite mentor from the #BLUPITCH panel of judges. These judges include former TV star, producer and fashionpreneur Diana Opoti. Currently, Ms. Opoti is also offering fashion designers a chance to showcase their clothing line in Design Africa Collective. Others are retail and business entrepreneur, Trushar Khetia, and General Manager Radisson Blu Hotel Nairobi & East Africa’s District Director of Radisson Hotel Group, Ian Rydin.
“One of Radisson Blu’s brand pillars is to grow talent, as we believe talent grows us. We think there is undiscovered talent in Kenya, waiting for an opportunity, like #BLUPITCH, to present what they’ve got,” says Rydin.
All entrants are required to draft their 500 word pitch in advance to gain one of just 9 spots in the contest. The top three contestants who are the most successful in pitching in person will go through to the semi-final round, during which the mentor panel will have 10 minutes to ask questions about their pitch before choosing one final winner who will receive mentorship and guidance from their chosen mentor.
