2020 China-Africa Digital Trade Forum Grand Opening Ceremony

2020 China-Africa Digital Trade Week kicked off successfully, held at the virtual platform Global Trade Week –Virtual Exhibition (GTW-VE) running from June 29th to July 5th 2020.

On June 29th, the inaugural session of “China-Africa digital Trade Week” co-organized by the bilateral cooperation department of China International Chamber of Commerce, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Wuhan committee and MIE Group, undertaken by the Secretariat of the Chinese Council and the local liaison office of the China-Africa Joint Chamber of Commerce, was successfully held online.

The official Opening Ceremony was well attended with Chinese Ambassadors and Counsellors along with the dignitaries from African territory and the VIP speakers included Wu Meng, Director General of Bilateral Cooperation department of CCOIC and Secretary General of the China Council of the China-Africa Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Sun Yuansong, Chairman of CCPIT Wuhan committee and Head of the Liaison Office of the China Council of the China-Africa Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Zhang Chengang, Second Inspector of CCPIT Hebei committee, Wang Jiaxin, Business counsellor of Economic and Commercial Affairs of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Rwanda, Dr. Appiagyei, Chairman of the Ghana International Chamber of Commerce and Industry, along with Mr. David Wang, Founder and President of MIE Group.

The forum mainly focused on economic and trade cooperation between China and Africa, particularly on how China and Africa can deepen their existing trade relations and work together to build stronger community to overcome challenges surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. The forum attracted nearly 300 delegates from China and Africa.

Director-General Wu Meng extended his support towards Africa in strengthening connectivity and ensuring the construction of industrial sector to cope with the impact of the epidemic and expand economic and trade cooperation. “Based on the principle of people-oriented and life priority, we need to work together to promote China-Africa economic and trade cooperation, thus minimizing the negative impact of the epidemic.” He emphasized.

Sun Yuansong, Chairman of CCPIT Wuhan,Head of the Liaison Office of China Council of the China-Africa Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Chairman Sun Yuansong put forward three key suggestions: Firstly, speeding up the implementation of the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, giving priority to the areas of health care, resumption of work and production and improvement of people’s livelihood. Secondly, Further developing “One Belt One Road” production capacity cooperation and share connectivity opportunities. Lastly, deepen commercial legal cooperation and establish a mechanism for resolving economic and trade disputes to ensure China-Africa cooperation.

Inspector Zhang Chengang expressed his views and opinions on how to help foreign trade enterprises strengthen business and interactive communication with African countries.

GTW will assist visitors to search in a live environment for manufacturers and products online, communicate with suppliers in real time, and book video meetings and conferences very conveniently.” he commented. “We hope through this forum, more Chinese enterprises get to know Africa and realize its development potential.” said Wang Jiaxin, Business counselor.

Dr. Appiagyei said, “Online virtual forums are an effective way to accelerate the resumption of production and innovation of technology.” During the forum, Chinese enterprises, China Road & Bridge, Guangdong LONON, ChengLi Heavy Industry, State Grid Electronic Commerce, WARON Technology shared their business with Africa. CCPIT Wuhan committee, one of the organizers of the forum, signed an MOU with foreign counterparts to further strengthen bilateral cooperation and exchanges.

The forum officially kicked off the China-Africa Digital Trade Week, which strengthened the determination of Chinese and African enterprises to jointly fight the epidemic, thus opening a new chapter in rebuilding China-Africa trade interactive. GTW-a new “Virtual Expo” ecosystem Against the backdrop of the epidemic still spreading globally and the world economy in a severe recession, MIE Group responds positively to the instructions and deployment of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council on resolutely winning the epidemic prevention, helping foreign trade enterprises meet overseas procurement needs, through innovative measures to stabilize the basic market of foreign trade, by launching the “Global Trade Week” online exhibition platform(GTW).
