Toyota Starlet 2020: Toyota Kenya has brought the legendary Toyota Starlet back into the market. The Starlet was launched on Tuesday in Nairobi and is going for Sh. 1.98 million.
The new Starlet comes with a 1.4-liter DOHC four-cylinder engine, 68kW @ 6000 rpm and 130Nm @ 4200 rpm with two transmission choices, a 5-speed manual, and 4-speed automatic, all driving the front wheels, safety and security equipment that include active electronic aids such as ABS, EBD, and Brake Assist (BA).

“The new Starlet brings back nostalgic memories, that goes back to October 1973 when the first one came out and ever since it has been developed further and further. Today we have a historic moment for this return that we want to call the Star,” Toyota Kenya Managing Director, Arvinder Reel said.
However, motoring enthusiasts have complained that the new Starlet may actually not be a Starlet after all, but a rebranded Suzuki Boleno. Toyota Kenya and Suzuki run a joint car sale partnership.
