SportPesa Resumes Operations: SportPesa has resumed operations in Kenya. Making the announcement, the gaming site said that gamers could start placing their bets from tonight. The new paybill number is 5212121.
“We are pleased to once again offer gaming services to our customers. Over the coming months, we are excited to explore a wide range of new partnerships in the country. Thank you for the support,” a statement from SportPesa said.
A spot check on the SportPesa website revealed that it was active for Kenyan users. SportPesa CEO Ronald Karauri said a new bookmaker Milestone Games Limited has acquired the rights to use the SportPesa brand-name in Kenya.

“We are relaunching our operations today, Friday, October 30. The people who have been asking about our return, we are back. I’m happy to announce that the SportPesa brand is back under a new BCLB license holder. As market leaders, SportPesa will focus on upholding the highest standards of service and responsible gaming. We look forward to working closely with BCLB and all other stakeholders. We are excited to explore a wide range of partnerships in Kenya over the coming weeks and months, which will prioritise the development of sports in communities across our great country!” said Karauri.
In a letter dated September 19 last year, the betting firm applied to the board for the renewal of its licence.
“In accordance with the betting, Lottery and Gaming Act and the regulations thereunder… I hereby apply for the renewal of a bookmaker’s on-the-course/ off-the-course/ on-and-off-the-courses licence,” read the letter from SportPesa. Their license has been renewed one year later.
SportPesa stopped operations in Kenya after a bitter run in with the government over taxes. The firm was also accused of perpetuating a gambling addiction in Kenya, while shipping billions of money staked by Kenyans abroad. SportPesa Resumes Operations.
