Raila Covid Positive Results: On Thursday evening, former prime minister revealed through his doctors that he had contracted Covid-19. In a statement, his doctor said that tests had confirmed that indeed the former premier was battling SARS-Cov-2.
“Following my letter of the 10th of March 2021 we have confirmed that Rt. Hon. Odinga has SARS-2 COVID 19. We are continuing to monitor his progress,” Raila’s personal doctor neurosurgeon David Oluoch-Olunya said in the statement.
The results came days after Raila was admitted at the Nairobi Hospital. The ODM leader was admitted to hospital on March 9 after he complained of general fatigue and body aches.
On Friday morning, a report that appeared in The Star newspaper said that Raila could have contracted the virus from one family in Mombasa. “ODM leader Raila Odinga could have got Covid-19 from a prominent Mombasa family. Raila visited the family last week when he was on a tour of the region and unknown to him some of the businessman’s relatives had been infected,” the report by the newspaper said.

It further quoted an aide to Raila saying that the family is well known to Raila, and hence the reason for the visit. “These people are known to Raila and he didn’t know that they had patients, some in critical condition. Raila met them and spent some time with them only for him to return to Nairobi with Covid symptoms,” the report in The Star quoted.
