A section of JKIA shut down after fire breakout

The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has announced the closure of a section of the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) following a fire accident.

In a statement on Monday March 25, KAA said the fire broke out at the JKIA’s Terminal 1E leading to its temporary closure.

“Following this, power to Terminal 1E has been temporarily shut off as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of all within our premises,” KAA stated.

“To mitigate any inconvenience this may cause, all flight arrival operations have been redirected to Terminal 1A until further notice.”

The authority explained that the fire was caused by an electrical fault adding that no injuries or casualties resulted from the incident.

”KAA is dedicated to ensuring the safety and security of all passengers, staff and stakeholders at our facilities and is taking all necessary steps to minimize disruptions and return to normal operations as swiftly as possible,” it remarked.
