Kenya Airways appointed Allan Kilavuka as the group managing director and chief executive officer on April 1 2020. He had been serving as acting CEO of the national carrier before his appointment.

Allan has over 22 years of working experience. Before his appointment to KQ, he was the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer at Jambojet.

He started his career at Deloitte and then General Electric Company where he held various senior leadership positions in their Sub Saharan Africa businesses before joining Jambojet.

Kilavuka has extensive experience in strategy, business development, business process improvement, financial leadership and strategy, people leadership, offshoring, controllership & compliance, business start ups, process design and Financial Planning & Analysis.

He has operated throughout Africa and has vast experience in doing business in Africa.

At Jambojet, Allan had taken over from Mr. Willem Hondius who had been at the helm of the airline since its inception in 2014.

Prior to his appointment at Jambojet, Allan had served at General Electric (GE), where he was the Executive in-charge of Global Operations for sub-Sahara Africa responsible for the strategic leadership in developing the shared service model and designing organization and structure. He has also held various senior roles in GE both in Kenya and South Africa.

Allan Kilavuka has a Bachelor’s of Commerce Degree from the University of Nairobi and also holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Psychology from the University of Liverpool. He has trained at GE’s world class Crotonville Leadership Institute in New York, USA in Executive Leadership, Advanced Management and Financial Management.
